Acrylic Polymers, a Business Line of Evonik Industries AG, promotes and develops molding compounds under the brand name PLEXIGLAS®. Traditionally known in the automotive industry for taillight covers and light guides. Well established in non-transparent add-on body parts as well as interior decorative trims, ambient lighting and door sill protectors.
Currently Acylic Polymers has developed the first PMMA specialty molding compound for mass production of vehicle glazing: PLEXIGLAS® Resist AG 100.
It offers the high resistance to UV and weathering for which PLEXIGLAS® is known, is impact modified and so it has up to 30 times the breaking strength of mineral glass.
Owing to its balanced property profile, the new PLEXIGLAS® Resist AG 100 meets all the relevant requirements for automotive glazing. It has also undergone and passed all tests in line with ECE R43 and ANSI Z26.1.

IKV, the Institute of Plastics Processing at RWTH Aachen University, is Europe-wide the biggest research and education institute engaged in the field of plastics processing. More than 300 staff are engaged in the fields of processing, materials technology and part design in the plastics and rubber industries. IKV is divided up into four specialist departments of Injection Moulding, Extrusion and Rubber Technology, Part Design and Materials Technology, and Composites and PU Technology. The Institute also takes in the Centre for analysis and Testing of Plastics, and the Training and Further Education department. IKV is run by an Association of Sponsors with a membership of more than 230 plastics companies from all over the world. Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing.
